F.A.Q.

We hope that the following answers to our Frequently Asked  Questions may be helpful to you. Feel free to ask any additonal questions at the "Contact Us" tab.

Question 1:

How does chiropractic work?

Our bodies are made up of muscles, bones and nerves. When there’s a problem with one of these areas, then there’s also a problem with the other areas. When a bone gets misaligned, it causes pressure on the muscles and nerves. This is called a subluxation. Imagine that just the weight of a quarter pressing against your nerve cuts off 80% of your nerve flow. A chiropractic adjustment restores mobility, relieves pain and muscle tightness, improves neural integrity, and allows for healing.

 Question 2:

What type of education do chiropractic doctors get?

A chiropractic doctor is probably one of the most misunderstood healthcare practitioners in the medical profession. The training of a chiropractor is similar and as rigorous as that of a medical doctor. The difference between the education of an MD and that of a chiropractor lies in the fact that an MD trains in pharmacology and surgical procedures and a chiropractor trains in the care of the spine.

Question 3:

Is it true that once you go to a chiropractor, you will always have to go?

You ultimately decide how far you want to take your care. After your problem has been corrected, it is highly recommended in order to prevent future injuries to come in two times a month as part of a maintenance plan. Similarly, you wouldn't wait to have a cavitiy to go to the dentist. Those who are active, have stressful lives, or want to be their very best, find that a schedule of preventive visits is helpful in the maintenance of good health. Our patients find
that periodic chiropractic checkups help keep them in tip-top shape.

 Question 4:

Is chiropractic appropriate for all ages?

Yes. Chiropractic care is appropriate regardless of age for anyone who has a nervous system, muscles and bones. The birthing process is very traumatic to a newborn and therefore we start adjusting babies shortly after birth. Additionally, chiropractic care should continue throughout your lifetime in order to maintain proper health. More and more people are understanding the value of chiropractic and are incorporating care in their later years. Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, vitality, endurance, and appetite. Many patients report improvement with arthritic symptoms and other chronic ailments often associated with the aging process.

Question 5:

Can headaches be eliminated without medication?

Yes, we've had great success with treating headaches and even migraines without the use of medication. We have found through adjusting the body and the cranial ligaments along with the use of oil therapy, most headaches can be relieved in minutes.

Question 6:

Can Conditions be treated without medication and still be effective?

Yes. Along with chiropractic care, homeopathy has been around 6000 years, still using the same remedies for the same problems. Medicines aren’t consistent but homeopathies are.

Question 7:

Besides back and neck pain what other conditions doe’s chiropractic treat?

Chiropractors treat all types of musculoskeletal injuries including worker’s compensation injuries. Chiropractic is also very effective for non-musculoskeletal conditions because of the relationship of the spine and the nervous system to organ function. Some of the more common conditions that chiropractic care is effective for include disc injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, allergies, asthma, Irritable Bowel Syndrome , gastro esophageal reflux disease, migraines, ADHD, scoliosis, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, digestive problems, TMJ, ear infections, sinusitis, and the common cold. In our office we specialize in extremities, homeopathies and oil therapy.

Question 8:

Do animals need adjustments?

Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to pet health care. Most animals show immediate results. If your pet has any or some of the following symptoms or issues then chiropractic care is right for them: problems getting up or down, reoccurring conditions such as:
vomiting, respiratory or urinary infections, diarrhea or constipation, seizures or neurological problems, behavioral or mood changes.

Question 9:

 What is hyperbaric chamber therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is a treatment in which the patient is entirely enclosed in pressurized chamber breathing oxygen at a pressure greater than one atmosphere. The increase in pressure allows more oxygen to reach the cells of the body which subsequently has many healing and therapeutic benefits. Professional athletes use HBO to enhance performance while others utilize it for a variety of health reasons. HBO therapy is known to heal wounds up to 80% faster.

Question 10:

How much will a visit cost me?

Our office accepts most health insurance policies. Whether or not your plan includes chiropractic varies. In most cases, chiropractors are considered specialists. Call our office to provide us with your insurance information and we will verify what your particular benefits cover. If your plan does not cover chiropractic care, you can be put on a cash plan.
